Dear Shielded Space Community,

A bright, hopeful new year awaits! I am thrilled to connect with you as we step into 2023. The past year brought some tricky times, but we tackled each challenge with care and commitment. Now we have a fresh start to grow stronger together. As your passionate resident safeguarding manager, I want to share a few thoughts to inspire us all:

·      Stay alert! Keep your eyes and ears open for any signs a child needs help. With vigilance and awareness, we can make a difference.

·      Communication is our superpower! Encourage kids to speak up in a judgement-free zone. Collaborate with parents and teachers in schools too.

·      Knowledge is power! We need to keep learning and training on the latest skills and policies. In safeguarding, the learning never ends.

·      Embrace diversity! Ensure all children feel welcomed and respected. A safe space includes everyone.

·      Adapt and improve! As the world changes, so must we. Evaluate your organisation’s protocols and get creative.
